The US pop star released the video to the song named after the Hollywood actress to Spotify and Appple music on Tuesday. The video features archived footage of Taylor from the 1966 film W'ho’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?'.
The video also features the actress in the films 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof', 'Suddenly Last Summer' and 'Cleopatra'. Swift did not appear in the video herself, although she did include a thank you note to Taylor's family and her ex-husbands Mike Todd and Michael Wilding's families.
Taylor was one of the biggests actresses of her time, she passed away in 2011 at age 79, due to congestive heart failure.
Swift has previously called Taylor her "role model", admitting that she takes inspiration from the actress. Swift described the song named after the actress as a "love song through the lens" of what Taylor went through in her life.
Upon the release of Swift's album, 'Life Of A Showgirl', Christopher Wilding shared his opinion on the song inspired by his late mother. He described the parts that were aimed at his late mother as "especially magical" and acknowledge that she and Swift shared a lot of similarities. “She and my mom do seem like kindred spirits. They are both the very embodiment of female empowerment. The way [Swift] has deftly captured the similarities and parallel tracks in their careers and personal lives is delightful," Wilding shared.
In a recent interview, Swift described her fondness of the actress and thanked her son for the kind words he said about her, she said: “My parents sent me this clip of Elizabeth Taylor’s son [Christopher] saying something very flattering, that if there were one person he might compare to his mother in the modern day, in terms of persona and … the chaos around us, he said it would be me...I was so flattered by that."
