The Batman: Part II has officially revealed a wave of major new cast additions, with director Matt Reeves confirming several huge names will join the long-awaited sequel to the 2022 blockbuster.
The filmmaker announced on social media that Scarlett Johansson had boarded the project by sharing a GIF of the actress from 2013 sci-fi thriller Under the Skin alongside the caption: “Next exit, Gotham… Welcome.”

Soon after, Reeves also confirmed Sebastian Stan had joined the film, posting another GIF with the message: “In a Gotham state of mind… Welcome.”

The headline move is Stan stepping into the role of Harvey Dent, a casting choice that instantly reframes the sequel’s centre of gravity. Opposite him, Johansson is widely reported to play Gilda Dent, lending the story a sharper domestic tension, though the studio has not publicly confirmed the role.
Veteran actor Charles Dance has also joined the project as Christopher Dent, deepening the Dent family tree and potentially setting up a more emotionally charged moral struggle at the centre of Gotham’s political world.

Stan and Johansson previously appeared together in several Marvel blockbusters, including Avengers: Endgame, where Johansson played Black Widow.
Later on Thursday, Reeves teased two more mystery castings, though he has not yet revealed which characters they will play.
Brian Tyree Henry has received enthusiastic greetings from fans after Reeves posted a tweet of the actor captionned: 'Welcome to the party, man...'
The Emmy-nominated actor came to fame in TV show FX Atlanta as Paper Boi. He later played Phastos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Returning to the franchise are Robert Pattinson as Batman and Reeves himself behind the camera. The script was co-written with Mattson Tomlin.
Last week, Reeves confirmed filming had officially begun on the sequel, which follows the massive success of The Batman. The first film grossed more than $772 million worldwide and launched a darker, grounded version of Gotham City.
As of now, it remains unclear whether Zoë Kravitz will return as Catwoman/Selina Kyle or whether Barry Keoghan will reprise his brief but memorable appearance as the Joker.

The production is reportedly planning to shoot in real snowy locations to create a bleak winter atmosphere across Gotham, fuelling speculation among fans that classic Batman villain Mister Freeze could appear in the film.
Despite the growing list of stars attached to the sequel, Reeves has so far kept the identity of the main villain tightly under wraps.
The Batman: Part II is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on October 1, 2027.
