The Simpsons have said their goodbyes to long term character Alice Glick after 34 years.
Glick, a First Church Organist, was killed off dramatically in the November 16 episode, 'Sashes to Sashes', marking the end of her time on the show. causing a shock to the congregation.
Having first appeared in 1991 during season two of the cartoon comedy. She was initially voiced by the late Cloris Leachman, and later by Tress MacNeille.
Following her debut, Alice Glick soon became a firm favourite in the series, despite her irregular appearances on the show. Some fans may recall her maiden episode, Three Men and a Comic Book, which saw Bart Simpson work odd jobs to earn money to by a comic book.
In season 22, Alice Glick was also attacked by Robopet, which left fans wondering if she had died when she returned as a ghost.
Confirming Alice's death, executive producer Tim Long joked: "In a sense, Alice the organist will live forever through her music. But in another, more important sense, yep, she's dead as a doornail".
Last year, the voice actor behind The Simpsons' character Milhouse Van Houten, Pamela Hayden had announced that she was stepping away from the show after 35 years. More on this here.
