The Traitors Ireland is set to return to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on 30 August, with a brand-new group of contestants heading to Slane Castle for another high-stakes battle of deception, suspicion and skullduggery.
Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney will once again take on hosting duties, overseeing a fresh group of players as they compete to uncover the hidden Traitors among them while trying to survive themselves.
The second season follows the hugely successful debut of The Traitors Ireland last August, which quickly became a ratings hit with viewers across the country.
The first series ended with 23-year-old business graduate Kelley Higgins from Letterkenny, Dublin model Oyin Adeyemi, also 23, and 28-year-old content creator Vanessa Ogbonna from Tramore emerging victorious.
The series also turned retired prison officer Paudie Moloney, 70, into a breakout television personality. Following his appearance on The Traitors Ireland, he went on to compete on Dancing with the Stars earlier this year.
Once again, the contestants will be divided into two groups, with a select number secretly chosen as Traitors while the remaining players become Faithfuls. Their identities will be hidden from their fellow contestants, creating an atmosphere where nobody can be completely trusted.
RTÉ said the new series will feature new twists, gameplay and surprises, with contestants taking part in a series of challenges as they attempt to build a prize fund worth up to €50,000.
However, winning the money will depend on more than completing the challenges. The Faithfuls must work out which of their fellow players are secretly working against them, while the Traitors attempt to manipulate the group and remain undetected.
Each night, the Traitors will select a player to be "murdered", while heated debates will take place around the Round Table as contestants attempt to identify and banish a suspected Traitor. The danger, however, is that an innocent Faithful could easily become the target.
Teresa Smith, Commissioning Editor of Factual Entertainment at RTÉ, said audiences can expect "new twists, new gameplay and plenty of surprises" in the new season.
Series Producer Mairéad Whelan of Kite Entertainment said the programme would once again draw on Irish humour, culture and characters, describing the new series as being filled with "twists, turns and tears of an All-Ireland Final.
The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked will also return immediately after each episode, with host Kevin McGahern joined by guests to analyse the latest betrayals, banishments and revelations.
Since launching in the Netherlands in 2021, The Traitors has grown into a global television phenomenon, with adaptations produced across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
