During a recent interview, Hiddleston was asked if he would ever consider appearing on either of the two reality TV juggernauts. According to The Sun, the actor replied: “Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I’m a massive, massive fan of both.”

The comments immediately sent fans into a spin, with many urging Strictly bosses to sign up the Marvel and BBC favourite while his profile is sky-high.

Hiddleston is currently back on screens as hotel manager-turned-spy Jonathan Pine in the long-awaited second series of The Night Manager, which has already delivered one of the biggest twists of the year.

The new season follows Pine, who thought he had finally left his dangerous past behind, now living quietly as a low-level MI6 officer under the name Alex Goodwin. However, he is soon dragged back into the shadowy world of arms dealers, mercenaries and global conspiracies when new threats emerge.

The latest episodes have stunned viewers by confirming that Hugh Laurie’s villainous arms dealer Richard Roper, believed to be dead at the end of series one, is very much alive. Executive producer Stephen Garrett revealed that the shock twist was always part of the plan.

Speaking after Sunday night’s episode, Garrett explained that Roper’s fate at the end of the first season was deliberately left ambiguous. Although the character was last seen being bundled into a truck by dangerous enemies, no on-screen death ever occurred.

“He was never not going to be in it,” Garrett said, adding that the team had “played on ambiguity” to keep viewers guessing. He admitted there had been fears the twist would leak but said it was “incredibly pleasurable” to surprise audiences when Roper was revealed to be alive under the alias Gilberto Hanson.

The Emmy-winning series, based on John le Carré’s 1993 novel, first aired in 2016 and became a global hit, earning Hiddleston huge praise for his performance. The cast also includes Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, David Harewood and Tobias Menzies, making it one of the BBC’s most star-studded dramas.

With new episodes airing on BBC One and iPlayer, including the next instalment on January 18 at 9pm, Hiddleston’s return to prime-time television has reminded audiences why he remains one of Britain’s most charismatic stars.

And while he may currently be battling arms dealers and international criminals on screen, it seems Tom Hiddleston wouldn’t mind swapping espionage for ballroom glitter — or the back-stabbing drama of The Traitors — if the call comes.
