Andrew Moloney has opened up on the ‘stick’ he received after he called his father Paudie, ‘Daddy’ on national television on Wednesday’s Gogglebox

The father and son duo appeared on the inaugural Irish version of The Traitors, and conned their fellow contestants into not realising their relation.

With Paudie saying he was from Limerick, and Andrew saying he was from Cork there was no questions asked — and even a slip of the tongue when Andrew called his father ‘daddy’ seemed to go amiss.

On Wednesday, the pair will return to our television screens alongside their daughter/sister Aoife, as they make a guest appearance on Gogglebox Ireland.

The special episode gets underway at 9pm on Virgin Media One with Paudie admitting he was looking forward to relaxing and watching TV and eating biscuits with his children ‘without having to wear a cloak or plot a murder.’

In a first look at the trio on the show, viewers learn about the grief Andrew was subject to after calling his father ‘Daddy’ revealing his thought that it was more so the fact that Andrew was 33-years-old.

‘What?’ Paudie wondered in shock, ‘I called my father daddy all my life. I mean i was in my 40s or 50 I think or whatever, but—

‘You still called him daddy,’ Aoife noted, with Paudie confirming.

‘We’re all the mammies and the daddies in the West of Ireland — and the South,’ Aoife noted, with her father and brother agreeing.

‘Jumped at the chance’ — Traitors Ireland fans are in for a real three series treat

‘I couldn’t call you anything else,’ Aoife told her father, with Paudie explaining ‘the Dubs don’t understand cause it’s all ma’s and da’s.

Viewers are sure to expect plenty of laughs, a couple of eyerolls and maybe some confessions as the Moloney joins the Gogglebox Ireland cast for one night only.

Gogglebox Ireland airs on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Play at 9pm every Wednesday.
