Tributes have been paid following the death of Michael Flatley's wife, Niamh O'Brien, who died at the age of 52 yesterday.
It was reported that Niamh, passed away peacefully at Dublin's Beacon Hospital, following an illness, according to a representative.
“The Flatley and O’Brien families are devastated by Niamh’s sudden passing and have asked that their privacy be respected as they come to terms with this heartbreaking loss", they said.
“They express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Beacon Hospital who cared for Niamh over the past few weeks, and to everyone who has offered their kindness and support to the family".
Riverdance icon, Michael Flatley, who was married to Niamh for 20 years, said his "heart is broken", saying on social media that Niamh was "the most loving mother, wife and person, and our lives will never be the same without her". More on this here.
Leading the tributes, Michael Flatley's sister, Thomasina Griffin wrote: “The most devastating day! The sweetest, kindest sister-in-law anyone could ever ask for. Michael, we all love you and are here for you and Michael St James. May she RIP".
Irish TV presenter, Kathryn Thomas added: “I’m so, so sorry. Such shocking news to hear. Your beautiful Niamh. Sending so much love to you and your family".
Actress Victoria Smurfitt said: “Michael [I] am so incredibly sorry to hear this shocking news. All love to you and your lad. She was beauty inside and out".
“I’m so, so sorry to hear this terrible news. Sending deepest condolences", BBC Radio presenter Angela Scanlon added.
RTÉ star, Mary Kennedy wrote: “I’m so very sorry to hear this sad news Michael. Thinking of you at this time of deep, deep loss".
