The second part of the hit musical’s movie adaptation lands this November, following a year-long pause after the release of Wicked.
Where we last left off, Elphaba was defying gravity and soaring into the western sky. Now, fans get their first peek at Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin Man. In the trailer, The Wizard sets Dorothy on her quest to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch.
Meanwhile, Glinda is revelling in her new role as Glinda the Good, drifting through crowds of admirers in her bubble. Fiyero quips that he can’t resist popularity — to which Glinda replies, “who could?” — before he ominously adds, “you know who could.”
The trailer also hints at a bittersweet reunion between Glinda and Elphaba, with Elphaba insisting, “we can’t let good be just a word. It has to mean something.”
Fans were quick to share their excitement online. “Pink goes good with green,” one wrote under the YouTube trailer, while another admitted, “these scenes already make me wanna cry.” Even the official channel joined in, joking they “clicked so fast we couldn’t resist.”
Casting for Dorothy is still under wraps, though rumours suggest the ruby slippers might just be filled by someone from the Emerald Isle.
Wicked: For Good drops in Irish cinemas on November 21.
