It was an eventful first episode for the 10th contestant of the Virgin Media TV show. After flying into the Australian camp and meeting each other, contestants were faced with unexpected challenges.

THE CELEBRITIES HAD THEIR FIRST MORNING IN CAMP

It was the first morning in camp for the ten celebrities and it appeared the camp had an unwanted visitor in the night. Unbeknownst to him, a rat crawled across Eddie whilst he was sleeping.

Eddie woke in the morning in high spirits after a great night’s sleep on his comfy bed in camp. As Eddie told Ruby and Kelly about his slumber, Kelly was less than impressed as she said: “Of course you did! You’re in paradise up there!” Pointing to her own bed, she remarked: “Look at this! There’s not even a blanket in here.”

Speaking of her comforts back home, Kelly admitted of jungle life: “This is definitely a departure from what I’m used to.”

Brushing her teeth up near the dunny, a bug landed on Kelly’s hand. As she squealed to flick it off herself, her toothbrush went flying into the jungle wilderness below. Lisa was off to the rescue as she headed down into the jungle bush to collect it for her. An impressed Aitch told the Bush Telegraph: “Lisa saved the day, she got right down there, I don’t even think she’s allowed down there to be honest. She’s breaking the rules and everything, she’s a badman.”

Ruby decided to lead a guided group meditation session, with Lisa, Shona, Jack, Kelly and Alex all partaking in the session down at the creek.

An impressed Kelly quizzed her on how she learnt to meditate, Ruby revealed: “I went to university 10 years ago and got my degree - in neuroscience, mindfulness and cognitive therapy at Oxford, and I was really stupid as a kid!”

Speaking of her fellow students at the time, she said: “They were snobby.”

GINGE AND RUBY DINED AT ‘THE DIVEY’

Later that morning, the celebrities gathered around the campfire waiting for Ant & Dec to enter and tell them the results of the vote. Whilst waiting, asked if her preference is Ant or Dec, Lisa replied: “Ant’s way tastier than Dec. Oh god, Ant’s… He’s juicy. Dec would look after you, Dec would tuck you in at night whereas Ant would give you… a nice night.”

Much to the delight of her fellow celebrities, Lisa told the Bush Telegraph: “I’m a red blooded 49 year old woman and yes I do think Ant McPartlin is very juicy!”

Next Ant & Dec came into camp to reveal that Ginge and Ruby would be facing the first trial of the series, ‘The Divey’ together.

Heading to the trial area, Ginge and Ruby were seated at a large banquet table where they learned ‘The Divey’ was in fact an eating trial and both of them would be dining in the jungle’s most exclusive, swankiest, VIP restaurant with ten rounds of jungle delights on offer, all worth a star and a meal for camp.

Ginge was up first, with a dish inspired by Maya Jama, named ‘Cryer Jama’ - a selection of giant cockroaches and mealworms, topped with a dash of dehydrated critters that the ranger sprinkled on top, salt bae style.

Finishing five cockroaches and five mealworms to win a star and one meal for camp, Ginge said: “If that’s the one we’re starting with, we’re in trouble...”

Next up, Ruby tucked into a dish inspired by Timothée Chalamet, called ‘Grimothy Chalomet’ - a witchety grub, topped with a cricket crouton to score them 2 out of 2.

For the rest of the menu, Ginge tucked into - ‘Margot Gobby’ - a bull’s tongue with a fish eye glaze, ‘The Slime-on Cowell’ - six snails with a beachworm reduction. Plus, ‘Russell Toe’ - a camel toe with cockroach-infused smoke which left Ginge turning bright red and retching as he told Ant & Dec: “It’s come back up in my mouth!

He finished off with the worst of them all, ‘Benedict Bum-berbatch’ - crocodile’s anus. With his eyes watering and grabbing the sick bucket, he retched constantly and only just managed to keep it down in what looked to be the most intense and gruelling Buchtucker meal in I’m A Celeb… history.

Whilst Ruby tucked into ‘Ronan Teeting’ - a cow’s teet with a garnish of duck tongue coulis, ‘Dame Spew-dy Dench’ - 3 vomit fruits, with a vomit fruit jus, and ‘Hugh Sackman’ - a huge pig’s testicle with a fermented seaweed foam infusion. As Ruby struggled to get it down, she remarked, “I think I’m pregnant!”

Lastly, Ruby finished off ‘The Knob Beckett’ - a bull’s penis, with a sparkler on top to honour the occasion. Instructed to eat the tip, Ruby successfully finished it which successfully won them 10 out of 10 stars.

A delighted, but slightly nauseous, Ruby and Ginge returned to camp to tell their fellow celebrities they’d won 10 out of 10 stars for camp, and would be eating well that night.

KELLY AND MARTIN TOOK ON THE ‘DINGO BALLS’ CHALLENGE

Later that day, Kelly and Martin headed off to face the ‘Dingo Balls’ challenge, a game of general knowledge, bingo and balls. Once inside the Bingo booth, Kelly and Martin were asked a series of questions, such as, ‘How many lines are there in a Limerick poem?’ To which they’d have to select the right answer, placing the number of coloured balls in the shoot that corresponded with the number and colour on the bingo board.

With the balls filling up higher and higher in the booth, Kelly was nearly engulfed, as her head slowly disappeared. Martin and Kelly guessed 5 out of 5 answers correctly and exited the booth, with Kelly falling over as she made her way out.

Meanwhile in camp, the celebrities got a phone call in order to win chocolate for camp.

They were asked, “Which of these is the highest number - the number of movies that Kelly has acted in or the number of UK top 40 singles by Spandau Ballet?”

Successfully guessing Spandau Ballet as the highest number, the camp got to enjoy chocolate as their prize.

JACK OPENED UP TO LISA ABOUT OZZY

Sat around the campfire that day, Lisa asked after Jack after the recent passing of his dad, Ozzy.

Jack admitted: “It was definitely a shock, I mean we knew he was sick for a while but it was definitely a shock, I mean we didn’t know it would be that quick...”

He added: “It was the ultimate mic drop, he did a massive big gig and was like, alright I’m done.”

Jack then got teary, as Lisa comforted him. Jack said of what Ozzy would think of him doing the show: “He’d be so supportive of this.”

Jack later shared in the Bush Telegraph: “I’m still navigating it all, it’s been three nearly four months and so it’s still pretty fresh.”
