The costume due to be under the hammer is the iconic green, white, yellow and black and is the exact costume that Will Ferrel is seen wearing in the movie where his character 'Buddy' pushes all of the buttons in the lift to see them light up "like a Christmas tree."
According to RTE, the costume could fetch between £100,000 (€114,000) and £200,000 (€228,000).
Propstore’s Winter Entertainment Memorabilia are hosting the live auction and they will showcase a range of props and costumes used in iconic films. Alongside Ferrel's costume, the hoverboard used by Michael J Fox’s character in 'Back To The Future Part II' will be up for auction and is expected to fetch between £60,000 (€68,000) to £120,000 (€136,000).
A heavily annotated personal script of 'Die Hard' once owned by Alan Rickman and his personal shooting script of 'Love Actually' will also be under the hammer.
A number of items featured in iconic horror films will be included in the auction, such as the Ghostface from Scream, and the stunt axe from The Shining.
According to RTE, Stephen Lane, Propstore chief executive stated "As the year draws to a close, Propstore is thrilled to bring collectors an extraordinary line-up – from the festive joy of Elf to the timeless adventure of Indiana Jones and the interstellar legacy of Star Wars. Each piece is a tangible piece of storytelling history, connecting fans directly to the films that shaped their imaginations."
The auction house is hosting a two day event at The Cumberland Hotel in London from the 25th of November to give film fans a chance to see the items before they go up for auction.
The three day live auction will commence on the 5th of December.
