Katie Taylor has announced that her grandmother, Kathleen has passed away.
The Irish boxing legend shared the news on social media, paying tribute to a woman who was her biggest inspiration and number one fan. Her grandmother, Kathleen Cranley, whose daughter is Katie's mother Bridget, passed away over the weekend.
The news was first confirmed by Taylor's nephew, Jake McMahon, who is also a boxer.
Along with several throwback photos, Katie Taylor wrote: "My grandmother was remarkable. One of the most inspiring human beings you’ll ever meet. She’s seen it all and been through it all, endured so much hardship, but remained so pure in spirit".
"She brought us so much joy with the best sense of humor. What a legacy! Thanks for everything, Nanny. You’ll be missed beyond words. Honoring a life well lived. You are simply the best. Until we meet again", she added.
Such photos included one showing Katie and Kathleen sitting together on couch, holding some of the boxer's title belts, as well as one with Kathleen posing with Katie's husband, Sean McCavanagh as the trio laugh together.

Taylor's post was met with several supportive comments, including messages of support from former boxer Michael Conlon, as well as USA boxer and world champion, Clareesa Shields.
"Thinking of you and all the family KT, RIP 💚", Conlon wrote, while Shields added: "Sending my condolences to you and your family champ 🙏🏾 God bless ❤️".
Back in April, Katie Taylor who currently lives in the USA with her husband, Sean McCavanagh, said she was open to returning to live in Ireland in the future.
She said: "I know the people so well as well. I think Bray would be the place for me. Although we did visit Killarney a few months ago, my husband absolutely loved Killarney". More on this story here.
