The Oscar winning actresses are back to reprise their roles in The Devil Wears Prada sequel which is set to be released in May 2026.
"Almost twenty years after making their iconic turns as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation," the studio stated.
"The film reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces an all-new runway of characters, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J Shen, Pauline Chalamet, BJ Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as Lily and Irv from the first film," they continued.
The iconic pair will be joined by returning cast members from the first film. Emily blunt and Stanley Tucci will return to the screen, accompanied by Kennethy Branagh who will be joining the cast as Priestly's husband. It has also been reported that the film will feature cameos from Sydney Sweeney and Lady Gaga.
The original film first made $326m at the Global Box office and was later turned into a musical on the West End.
It is commonly noted by fans of the film and fashion lovers that the character Priestly is heavily influnced by Anna Wintour, former Editor in Chief of Vogue Magazine. Wintour recently spoke about the original film, she said that it “had a lot of humour to it. It had a lot of wit. It had Meryl Streep. I mean, it was Emily Blunt [and] they were all amazing. In the end, I thought it was a fair shot”.
