A man has been charged and a woman questioned following a major drug seizure in Dublin 22, with Gardaí recovering cannabis, cocaine, and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of €715,000.
The investigation began when uniformed Gardaí from the Clondalkin Community Engagement unit stopped a vehicle during a routine patrol in the Rathcoole and Citywest areas at around 3.45am on Wednesday, 16 July.
The male driver, aged in his 20s, was searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. During the search, officers discovered cannabis herb worth approximately €10,000. He was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Follow-up searches were conducted at three residential addresses. During these searches, Gardaí seized additional quantities of cannabis herb, cocaine, and crack cocaine, along with drug-related paraphernalia. The total estimated value of all drugs seized came to €715,000. All substances have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
A woman in her 20s was also arrested during the searches and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. She has since been released without charge, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man has been charged in relation to the seizure and appeared before Blanchardstown District Court on Thursday morning, 17 July.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
