On Friday afternoon, Niall Boylan asked: Is it cruel or justified to raise council rent by €3 per week?
A sleep-out protest was organised by Dublin South West Housing Action because South Dublin County Council have raised the rent for a council house by €3 per week. Some have said it is completely cruel and targets the most vulnerable in society. Others say it is less than the price of a roll in a shop and think it is fair to raise the rent to cover maintenance and rising costs.
