Niall Boylan spoke about the possibility of religious festivals being removed from schools. Two primary schools in Dublin have warned parents they will not be able to celebrate Christmas if there is a change of patronage. It comes as one of eight Catholic primary schools in the Portmarnock-Malahide-Kinsealy area is to transfer to a non-denominational model.
The approach to the eight schools is part of the wider Department of Education initiative to reduce the dominance of the Catholic Church in primary education and provide greater diversity in school choice to reflect societal changes. Would it bother you?
