The man who suffered a brain injury following a violent assault in Tuam earlier this month has been moved to a step-down unit at Beaumont Hospital. He is said to be making progress in his recovery.

Electrical contractor Adrian Ansbro was attacked at Foster Place just after midnight on Sunday July 11th. The father of two was knocked out by a single punch to the head and cracked his head on the pavement when he fell.

Ansbro was initially brought to University Hospital Galway before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital, home to the national specialist unit for the treatment of serious head injuries.

His condition is now described as stable and improving.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the incident but no arrests have yet been made. CCTV footage has been collected from the location of the attack and house to house enquiries have been made.

Gardaí request anyone with information to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
