Alan Carr's ex-husband has been freed from jail just 2 nights into the 14-week sentence for drink driving.

Paul Drayton, who recently split from the comedian and TV host after 13 years together, cried in court on Wednesday  as he was terrified of going to prison.  He was 4 times over the legal alcohol limit and swerving all over the road when police pulled him over.  However, he ended up reversing into the police car.

After two "harrowing" nights behind bars, the judge reduced his sentence , giving him a chance to turn his life around.

He had never been in trouble with the law before but was drinking heavily and had gone through a marriage breakdown and brain surgery recently.  The new sentence was 12 weeks and suspended for 24 months, leaving him free to go home.
