Duran Duran's Andy Taylor has confirmed he has stage 4 prostate cancer.

The band were being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but Andy was forced to miss it as he was receiving treatment.  He had been due to reunite with Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor but was unable to travel from his home in Ibiza to L.A..

However, he asked Simon Le Bon to read an open letter to the fans which read "What an absolute honour to be nominated, let alone inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  There's nothing that comes close to such recognition.  You can dream about what happened to us but to experience it on one's own terms was beyond incredible.

Just over 4 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer.  I am massively disappointed I couldn't make it.  I even bought a new guitar.

I am so very proud of these 4 brothers.  I'm amazed at their durability and I'm overjoyed at accepting this award.  I'm sure as hell glad I'm around to see the day".
