Ed Sheeran has now become the first artist to hit 100 million followers on Spotify, setting a new streaming record.

Taking to social media, the singer/songwriter shared a video which shows him wearing a wet tshirt, sent to him by the streaming service, with the words, “ASK ME ABOUT MY 100 MILLION SPOTIFY FOLLOWERS”.

The comical video shows Ed trying to get the attention of some disinterested venue staff ahead of a gig from his live tour.

Sheeran is now the most streamed artist on the site, ahead of artists like Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Drake and Justin Bieber.  He is also behind two of the biggest top 10 singles of the UK chart, thanks to his tracks 'Bad Habits' and 'Peru', a collaboration with Fireboy DML.
