It has emerged that Paramount Pictures are being sued over alleged infringement of copyright regarding their latest film Top Gun: Maverick.

This lawsuit was filed by the family of Ehud Yonay, the author whose article inspired the 1986 film Top Gun

The complaint which was filed in Los Angeles federal court, has alleged that Paramount Global did not ascertain the rights to Yonay's 1983 article Top Guns, before they released the "derivative" sequel.

"These claims are without merit, and we will defend ourselves vigorously", Paramount said in a statement.

Ehud Yonay's widow and son, Shosh and Yuval Yonay who live in Israel, are seeking unspecified damages. These include profits from the latest sequel, along with the blocking of further editions or sequels.
