Popular Actor Ron Pember Dies Aged 87

Tributes have been paid to the late Only Fools And Horses actor Ron Pember who passed away aged 87.

This sad news was confirmed by Ron's grandson Paul Pember who revealed that the actor passed away earlier this week. 

 "'The sadness now is the happiness then. That’s the deal. 11.04.1934 - 08.03.2022 #ronpember #grandad", Paul wrote. 

Pember appeared as Tenants Association head Baz in a 1983 episode of British sitcom Only Fools And Horses called Homesick. See below. 

The sitcom paid tribute to Pember by reposting Paul's Tweet. Adding, "We are saddened to hear of the news of the death of Ron Pember who played Baz in the series 3 episode, Homesick", they wrote. "Our thoughts and warm wishes go to his family and friends". 

Along with Only Fools And Horses, Pember also starred in Red Dwarf and worked as a stage director. He also starred as Alain Muny in British drama series Secret Army. He also wrote the 1975 musical Jack The Ripper, which told the story of the Victorian killing spree in 1880s London. 

Pember retired from acting in 1992 after suffering a stroke, going on to live in Sounthend-On-Sea. 

Red Dwarf paid their own tribute to Pember, writing  "RIP Ron Pember. A terrific character actor, stage director and dramatist who made a memorable appearance in Series II’s Better Than Life". 

"Just heard the sad news that Ron Pember has passed away", fellow actor Danny John Jules added. 

Pictures TV also wrote,  "Dear #RonPember has left us for the cinema in the sky, leaving us behind a legacy of characters that always showcased his great talent. RIP". 

Ron Pember was born in 1934 and married his wife Yvonne Tylee in 1959.
