TV presenter Tilly Ramsey is "grateful" for the support she has received, after radio host Steve Allen labelled her a "chubby little thing" live on air.

The 19 year old daughter of famous TV chef Gordon Ramsey, also said that she hopes this will inspire others to behave in the same confident and articulate manner.

Following Allen's remarks, Tilly Ramsey took to social media to respond. The CBBC presenter said that she  "won't tolerate people that think it's OK to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone's weight and appearance".

Following this, Ramsey has received a wave of support from people, including former Love Island contestant Dr Alex George. Dr George was recently appointed as an ambassador for youth mental health for the British Government. Janette Manrara who presents It Takes Two also voiced her support for Tilly.

Having made these comments, Steve Allen also issued a private apology to Ms Ramsey.

"Very positive reactions"

Following this, Tilly Ramsey said,  "I have had some very positive reactions, which has been lovely".

"I am so grateful for all the support and just loving being me and having fun, and hopefully inspiring other people to do the same".

Tilly added that she now wants to put this incident behind her and focus on her performances on Strictly Come Dancing

"I said what I wanted to say. I put out a statement," she said. "I'm glad I did that but for now I have drawn a line under it - moving on and focusing on what is important, which is the dancing and university", she said.

Her father Gordon Ramsey was "proud" of his daughter's reaction. “I think it was a breath of fresh air, that level of standing up and saying, ‘We’re not going to tolerate that", he stated.

On having a famous father, Tilly also added,  "It is motivation to want to prove that I am doing my own thing. I am obviously so grateful for the great platform I have been given through my dad and all the amazing opportunities that have come my way".

"But I definitely am loving being able to show I am a different person and I am my own person, and doing my own thing".
