As Queen Elizabeth II, played by Imelda Staunton, approaches her 40th anniversary as the Queen, she reflects on the nine prime ministers who have passed through and the seismic shift in International order but trouble is brewing even closer to home. Rumours start to circulate that not all is well within Prince Charles' and Princess Diana's marriage. Princess Diana then breaks protocol by publishing a book. We also meet Mohamed Al Fayed and his son Dodi.
