Dermot Kennedy shared an emotional moment with fans during his sold-out Aviva Stadium shows, as he became the first Irish solo act to perform back-to-back concerts in the iconic venue.
The Dublin singer-songwriter played two nights at the iconic venue, with over 50,000 fans attending the concerts.
Ahead of the shows, Kennedy admitted he was overwhelmed by the response from fans after tickets went on sale, previously telling them: “You reassure me and lift me up every single time I put these shows on sale.”
The Aviva Stadium is one of Ireland’s largest venues, with a capacity of more than 51,700 people when fully configured.

Kennedy was joined by special guests Amble and Aaron Rowe for the concerts. The trio Amble brought their blend of traditional Irish folk and modern indie folk influences, while Dublin-based singer Aaron Rowe helped open the show.
During the second night, Kennedy was joined by Robbie Cunningham of Amble and Aaron Rowe for a performance of Carrickfergus.
Taking a moment to address the crowd, Kennedy said: “I’m trying not to be too sentimental this early on, but I do just want to say a very sincere thank you. I’ve never played for this many people in my life. I’m glad you’re here.”
A video of the moment was shared by Universal Music Ireland, with fans taking to social media to praise the singer’s performance and his connection with the audience.
One fan wrote: “Just home from Dermot Kennedy, a most humble artist. I so enjoyed the concert. For one young man it was magic.”
Another said: “Our homegrown gifted singer-songwriter-musician and beautiful human, a sublime gig, and artist. Both support acts were superb too.”
Others echoed Kennedy’s words, with one fan writing: “An amazing show, I’m so glad I was there.”
Another added: “Dermot Kennedy is such an amazing artist! I have seen him twice in concert and he did not disappoint.”
Sharing a video from the Aviva Stadium performance to his own social media, Kennedy shared the joy he felt from playing such a venue: “Best night of my life. I’m so proud.”
The Aviva Stadium performances form part of Kennedy’s ‘The Weight of the Woods’ tour, which continues throughout 2026.
Following his European and UK arena dates earlier this year, Kennedy is set to perform at a number of major events, including Summer Sonic in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan, in August, before beginning the North American leg of the tour in September with shows across the United States.
