An e-scooter user was killed following a collision with a car on the Kentstown Road in Navan at approximately 1:45am.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, and a passenger in their 20s were not injured.
The Kentstown Road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have camera or dashcam footage from the area to contact Navan Garda Station on 046 903 6100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
In a separate incident, a teenage driver died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Tipperary.
The crash is believed to have occurred at around 3:45am on the L4101 at Lanespark, Ballynonty, near Thurles.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
The L4101 remains closed while Garda forensic collision investigators conduct an examination of the scene, and local diversions are in place.
