Hudson Williams is setting the record straight about the bond he shares with his Heated Rivalry co-star, describing their relationship as entirely platonic.

The series follows hockey stars Shane Hollander, played by Hudson Williams, and Ilya Rozanov, portrayed by Connor Storrie, whose lives become intertwined through a hidden love affair. While the show has generated buzz for its passionate on-screen chemistry, viewers and critics alike have praised its deeper exploration into themes of vulnerability and the use of hyper-masculine spaces.

Hudson Williams  addressed long-standing questions about his close friendship with Connor Storrie during a candid appearance on CBC's The Assembly, an interview series in which celebrities and public figures answer questions posed by interviewers on the autism spectrum.

The 25-year-old actor appeared on the programme on Sunday, 1 November 2026, where he was asked directly about the nature of his relationship with Storrie. One interviewer posed the question: "Did you ever feel something for Connor that was more than friendship?"

Williams responded by firmly denying that their connection had ever been romantic. "No. Quickly, me and Connor realised we were, like, platonic soulmates, just completely in love with each other."

He went on to explain that recognising the friendship for what it was helped create a strong foundation between them. "I think that's what made our friendship so stable and beautiful, is that we realised we could be completely ourselves, be completely guard down."

Williams also described the level of comfort and affection that exists within their friendship, emphasising that physical closeness does not necessarily indicate romantic feelings. "I think the thing that made our relationship as rich as it was is, like, me and that man could cuddle for 10 hours, and it'd just mean cuddling. It just means we love each other dearly, but don't wanna beep each other's bop."

His comments offered a rare insight into a friendship that has drawn significant attention from fans, many of whom have speculated about whether the pair's bond extended beyond friendship. Williams' remarks make clear that, while their connection is exceptionally close, he views Storrie as a cherished friend rather than a romantic partner.
