Two people have been arrested after gardaí seized around 1.5kg of suspected heroin during a drugs operation in Cork City.
The seizure was made on Tuesday as part of Operation Tara, following a search carried out by gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by the Southern Regional Drugs Unit and the Armed Support Unit in Cork.
A woman in her 40s was arrested during the operation.
Gardaí subsequently stopped and searched a vehicle a short distance from the initial search, leading to the arrest of a man in his 60s.
A premises was then searched under warrant as part of the investigation.
During that search, gardaí recovered approximately €13,000 in cash, along with a further €1,950. A quantity of drug paraphernalia was also seized.
The suspected heroin, which has an estimated street value of €210,000, has been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Both suspects are being held at garda stations in Cork City under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
The investigation remains ongoing.
