Nell Mescal is loved up and wants the whole world to know it! The singer is dating social media star Madison Cawley, having gone public with their relationship after coming out to her family.
The Maynooth girl chose Christmas time to come out as gay to her famous family, as the five of them were reunited to spend the season at home in Kildare. Nell revealed that it has been 'so lovely' since opening up to her mum Dearbhla, dad Paul Snr, and her two brothers, Donnacha and of course, Paul Mescal.
'I’m only just speaking out about it publicly, but I came out around Christmas and it was just very smooth and really nice. Yeah, it was very warm. It's just felt really lovely. I'm very lucky that it felt that way,' Nell told the Gay Times.
The reason she is choosing now to talk about her sexuality is very simple, saying: 'Now felt like the right time because I'm in love.'
While she acknowledges it 'wasn't really her plan to come out in this way or to be public about it', falling for Madison pushed her to speak about it.
'I'd only been dating men, and I was having a horrible experience and all my songs were sad. Then I met someone and instantly fell in love and was like, "Okay, so this is it. I'm going to come out now, and this is what my songs are going to be." It felt like the most natural thing to do,' she told the outlet.
The Mescals appear to just as fond of Madison as Nell is. Dearbhla shared a snap of the funnywoman, who boasts almost 100k followers on social media, joining them for a family wedding in July.
The photo, which Dearbhla posted to social media, showed Madison partying with other guests as they waved their napkins in the air.
Like Paul, Madison is an actor so they will definitely have plenty to chat about over Sunday dinner!
