Kim Kardashian has revealed she has been diagnosed with esophagitis, a condition affecting the oesophagus which has brought back memories of her father’s death from oesophageal cancer.
The 45-year-old made the revelation in the trailer for the upcoming eighth season of The Kardashians.

While sitting in what appears to be a hair and make-up chair, Kim tells someone: “I have something called esophagitis.”
She is then shown in a hospital gown and lying in a hospital bed.
Someone off-camera asks: “Didn't your father... isn't it what he died of?”
Kim replies: “Yeah.”
Her mother Kris Jenner is also seen becoming emotional in the trailer, saying: “It makes me want to cry.”

Esophagitis is inflammation or irritation of the lining of the oesophagus, the tube that carries food and liquid from the mouth to the stomach. It is not the same condition as oesophageal cancer.
Kim's father, Robert Kardashian, died from oesophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59, just two months after being diagnosed.
The family has continued to support research and awareness around oesophageal health in his memory.
In 2019, UCLA established the Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health, which focuses on treatment, research and education relating to disorders of the oesophagus.

Kim has spoken publicly about other health concerns in recent years.
During the previous season of The Kardashians, she revealed that doctors had discovered a small brain aneurysm during an MRI scan.
She later told Good Morning America that she underwent further brain scans at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and said: “Everything works out.”
The new season of The Kardashians will see Kim's latest health scare play out on screen, with the trailer showing her undergoing medical care.
Season 8 premieres on October 8.
