A Gossip Girl x Gilmore Girls crossover is the last thing we expected, especially in this day and age!
Yet, here we are. Gossip Girl icon Leighton Meester and Gilmore Girls stud Jared Padalecki have teamed up for a new Netflix rom-com, Guarding Stars.
It's based on the 2022 novel The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, which essentially follows a 'no-nonsense bodyguard' who is hired to protect a 'charming action star'.

The Bodyguard follows Hannah Brooks, a bodyguard hired to protect actor Jack Stapleton from his 'middle-aged, corgi-breeding stalker'.
He's a household name, but in the past few years, he's fallen off the radar a little bit in the wake of family tragedy.
What bonds the pair is a secret. When Jack's mom gets sick, he goes home to the family's Texas ranch (changed to Montana ranch, for the adaptation) to help out, but he doesn't want his family to know about his stalker. And so, Hannah finds herself pretending to be Jack's girlfriend as a cover. It's a tale as old as time!

The more time they spend with one another, the more real it all starts to seem, but there's only one real way this can go, isn't there? Heartbreak.
It's easy for Hannah to protect Jack, but protecting her own heart? That's a whole other ball game.

As mentioned previously, Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki star as Hannah and Jack in Guarding Stars.
There's also the welcome addition of rom-com legend Andie MacDowell, known for her roles in Groundhog Day and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Other names in the cast include Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde, Toby Sandeman, Siobhan Williams, Rachael Ancheril, Phil Brooks, Giles Panton, Zoe Kosovic, Greg Lawson, Tess Degenstein, Ryan Mah, Williams Kosovic, and, surprisingly, singer Ava Max.

Guarding Stars joins Netflix on Wednesday, November 18.
