Netflix Announces Adaption Of Marian Keyes Novel

Netflix are to produce a series adaption of Marian Keyes' bestselling novel, Grown Ups.

The series which is to launch on the platform in 2026, with be produced by See Saw Films, with Australian screenwriter Samantha Strauss. 

Paying tribute to Keyes, Samantha Strauss said,  "I have worshipped at the altar of Marian Keyes for decades and the opportunity to play in her sandpit with her wonderfully messy, complex, lovely characters is a dream come true". 

Based on an ensemble family drama, around three couples, Cara and Ed, Nell and Liam, & Jessie and Rory, the series has the following description: "Like most families, the Caseys are a complicated bunch. Ever-shifting politics. Old and new resentments. Arguments that blow over quickly and hurts that are nursed forever. They’re loyal. Noisy. And bound together by a whole lot of love". 

"I screamed when I got this news! It’s thrilling that See-Saw and Netflix are bringing Grown Ups to the screen – they’ve already brought me so much pleasure as a viewer", novelist Marian Keyes said, reacting to the news. "Samantha Strauss really 'gets’ the dynamics of the book and I’ve loved the treatment and scripts that I’ve seen. Honest to God, I’m overjoyed". 

Netflix said in a statement that "casting will be announced in due course". 

Elsewhere, actor Jamie Dornan is to star in a new crime noir series called The Undertow, which will be released to Netflix next year.

The Fifty Shades star will play the roles of identical twins Adam and Lee, with Adam's wife being played by Mackenzie Davis.
