Paul Mescal & Rick Nesbitt Set For West Cork Festival

Paul Mescal and James Nesbitt are among the star-studded line up of actors who will features as part of this year's Fastnet Film Festival at the end of this month.

The event which promises to be "a dynamic and innovative celebration of film", will take place in Schull, west Cork from 22 May to 26 May, screening as many as 18 feature-length, local interest films, outdoor cinema events and 200 sort films across 15 venues. 

This program will also have contributions from 40 countries including: Japan, Iran, Poland, Scotland, Germany, Sardinia, India, and Portugal.

The line up will also include Paul Mescal's Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, as well as Olivia Caffrey and Peter Coonan. It will also feature producers David Puttnam, and Ed Guiney, and directors Emer Reynolds, Paddy Breatnach, and Lenny Abrahamson. 

This festival will include panel discussions, practical workshops, seminars with industry professionals which intend to cover all aspects of film making, featuring an emphasis on horror, with several spooktacular presentations in the works. A Horror Symposium will also take place at the event, led by Gerard Stembridge.

Such presentations will include Lenny Abrahamson's The Little Stranger, Evil Dead Rise by director Lee Cronin and Double Blind from screenwriter Darach McGarrigle.

Coming up on May 23, Nosferatu will also be screened at Holly Trinity Church on Colla Road in Schull, featuring newly composed live score from Linda and Irene Buckley, and performances from Rhoda Dullea on organ, Karen Dervan on viola, and Ilse de Ziah on cello.

To round off this festival, several fringe events will take place in Schull, including exhibitions, an Irish language day on Cape Clear, café viewings, a movie quiz hosted by Oscar-winning duo Tom Berkeley and Ross White, live music, and family entertainment.
