Arrest Made Following Taxi Driver Assault

A man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a taxi driver in Limerick city over the weekend.

Gardaí are investigating an attack on a taxi driver than occurred in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon.

The taxi driver, who is in his 60s, was subjected to an assault at approximately 3.30pm on Saturday at William Street. He was treated at the scene for his injuries, which are said to be non-life threatening.

A man in his 40s has since been arrested in connection with the incident. He was detained at Henry Street Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.

"Following an altercation at the scene, a man, aged in his 60s, received injuries and was treated at the scene," said a garda spokesperson. "These injuries were non-life threatening. A man, aged in his 40s, was later arrested and detained at Henry Street garda station."
