Michael Sheen To Star As Prince Andrew In Amazon Series 'A Very Royal Scandal'

Michael Sheen is to star as Prince Andrew in a three part Amazon series, 'A Very Royal Scandal'.

The series will be based on the explosive 2019 interview with the disgraced royal, and Newsnight reporter Emily Maitlis, who spoke to Andrew, quizzing him about his relationship with disgraced billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who died in his prison cell after being jailed for various charges relating to sex trafficking.

'A Very Royal Scandal' will see Maitlis portrayed by Ruth Wilson,  with  Joanna Scanlon also featuring as part of the cast, playing Amanda Thirsk, Prince Andrew’s former private secretary.

Alex Jennings will portray the late Queen’s private secretary, Sir Edward Young. Eanna Hardwicke will play the role of BBC Newsnight editor Stewart Maclean.

It is also directed by Becoming Jane’s Julian Jarrold, and written by The Last King Of Scotland's Jeremy Brock.

The series which is being aired by Amazon Studios, and will follow Maitlis', “professional and personal journey as a Newsnight journalist leading up to her acclaimed interview with Prince Andrew”.

'A Very Royal Scandal' is produced by Blueprint Television for Amazon Studios, with Karen Thrussell, Graham Broadbent,  Blueprint Television for Amazon Studios, with Karen Thrussell, Pete Czernin, Diarmuid McKeown, Graham Broadbent, Mr Brock and Mr Jarrold as executive producers.
