Niamh Malone was a stroke rehabilitation nurse when she suffered a stroke herself. She found it difficult to access a course afterwards when she attempted to set up her own business as it was thought she wouldn't be able to cope with the workload given her fatigue.
She took part in a new pilot entrepreneurship course for people with disabilities, which is co-founded by the Open Doors Initiative, sponsored by Pobal, and delivered by Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin). This allowed her to set-up her mental-wellness start-up Ailim Healing, which aims to reduce the anxiety of people with neurological conditions who suffer from social anxiety.
TU Dublin allowed her to work in her own way, using notes during her Dragon's Den style-pitch, in case she forgot any details, and to work in her own time. Their legal team also did a background check into her idea to ensure it was original and patented the idea. The online 12-week-course starts on the 21st of September.
