Heavy Rain To Sweep The Country With 3 Warnings Issued

Three weather warnings have been issued by Met Éireann, with widespread heavy rain and thundery downpours set to sweep across the country.

The forecaster has issued a status yellow warning for Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois, Wexford, Offaly, Galway and Munster, which will take effect from 2pm this afternoon, and run until 3am tomorrow.

Heavy and persistent rain is also expected to move across the south and south west this afternoon, with spot flooding and travel disruption possible. 

This evening is expected to see thundery showers extend across the country.

Elsewhere, Met Éireann have also issued a Status Yellow Rain Warning for Donegal, Cavan, Dublin Longford, Kildare, Meath, Louth, Wicklow, Westmeath, Mayo, Leitrim, Sligo, and Roscommon. Coming into effect from 5pm , this warning will remain in place until 6am tomorrow.

With gusts of winds expected to range from 110 km/h, power outages are also likely, leading to possible damage to temporal structures. Eastern facing coasts are expected to face wave overtopping, with rain set to cause spot flooding.

Leinster and Munster have also been issued with a Status Yellow Wind Warning, which will last from 9pm tonight to 6am tomorrow.
