Two working groups have been set up to address the growing issue of anti-social behaviour on estates in the Tuam area.
One of the groups will focus on estate management. A team will work to support local residents associations to manage estates and common areas.
The second group, which includes Fianna Fáil Councillor Colm Keaveney among its members, will tackle anti-social behaviour. Options being explored by the group include the instalment of CCTV cameras and implementing exclusion orders which could bar individuals from particular estates.
According to the Local Authority, both groups are currently in the process of meeting and working on possible initiatives.
Estates that would be serviced by the group include STEER, Parkmore and Tirboy.
A separate taskforce dedicated to youth outreach in the area is set to be lead by Fine Gael Councillor Andrew Reddington.
