Police Say Sinead O'Connor Found Unresponsive At Her London Home

The Metropolitan Police have released a statement, sharing details regarding the death of Irish singer Sinead O'Connor.

'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer Sinead O'Connor died yesterday aged 56, with tributes being paid to the Bray native.

Since then, the Metropolitan Police have released a statement, saying that O'Connor was found in her home unconscious. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A next of kin was notified of her death, which is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be sent to the coroner. 

“Police were called at 11.18am on Wednesday 26 July to reports of an unresponsive woman at a residential address in the SE24 area”, they said. “Officers attended. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene”.

The singer's family had confirmed her death yesterday, and have requested privacy at this difficult time.

They said, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time”.
