Renee Zellweger To Return For Fourth Bridget Jones Film!

Renee Zellweger is to return for a fourth instalment of Bridget Jones.

The actress will reprise her role as titular character Bridget Jones, alongside Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. 

The film which is set for release on Valentine's Day 2025, will see Grant reprise his role as Daniel Cleaver, with Thompson set to return as Bridget's despairing obstetrician. 12 Years A Slave star Chiwetel EJiofar and One Day star Leo Woodall will also join the cast of this much-loved rom com.

Bridget Jones creator and British author Helen Fielding had revealed that she decided to write Bridget's love interest Mark Darcy out of her third book, as she did not want the character to become "smug married". Mark Darcy was played by Colin Firth in the previous films.

In the third book, Bridget is aged in her 50s with two children, and it is also revealed that Mark Darcy died some years earlier. However, the plot for this upcoming movie remains unclear. 

Colin Firth had reprised his role for the third instalment of the Bridget Jones franchise, competing with billionaire US love guru Patrick Dempsey for Bridget's attention after she falls pregnant in Bridget Jones' Baby. 

In 2001, Bridget Jones received wide acclaim for her performance as hapless, singleton Bridget Jones in the first instalment of the franchise, before starring in the second film Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason in 2004.
