Paul Mescal is in talks to star in Ridley Scott's upcoming 'Gladiator' sequel, according to reports.
It has emerged that Normal People star Mescal is in talks to play Lucius, the son of Gladiator character Lucilla.
This is a key breakthrough in the much-anticpated Gladiator follow-up, with director Ridley Scott previously revealing last year that a script for the sequel had been written.
“We have a good footprint", Scott had said last year.
Kildare native Paul Mescal burst onto our screens in 2020, starring as Connell Waldron in the TV series Normal People, inspired by Sally Rooney's novel of the same name.
The actor has also been nominated for an award at this year's Bafta Awards for his role in Aftersun.
