Man Arrested Following Fatal Stabbing in Cork

A 42-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man.

At approximately 3.30am on Saturday morning, emergency services were called to a house in Seaview Avenue, Carrigaline, Co. Cork. There they found the victim with a stab wound to his chest. Despite efforts by emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 75-year-old man was also stabbed and is currently being treated in Cork University Hospital. His wounds are described as non-life threatening and he will be interviewed by gardaí later today.

The Garda Technical Bureau will carry out a forensic examination at the scene today. The area has been sealed off and the State Pathologist has been alerted. A post mortem is set to be conducted at Cork University Hospital.

The arrested man is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Door to door inquiries are being conducted in the area by gardaí today. They have asked any members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity to come forward. They are particularly interested in viewing any CCTV footage that may have been recorded.
