BBC Reach A Reported £9 Million Settlement With Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff

The BBC have reportedly reached an agreement with Top Gear co-presenter Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff, after he was involved in a car crash on set.

Last December, Flintoff was airlifted to hospital after filming at the Top Gear test track in Surrey’s Dunsfold Aerodrome. The former English cricketer suffered several facial injuries.

Top Gear had stated that this accident would be "fully" investigated, and that filming would be suspended, as it would be inappropriate to resume making the series, while an internal investigation was taking place.

Since then, a settlement reportedly worth  £9 million (€10.4 million), was reached Flintoff and the BBC, leaving both parties "satisfied". 

"BBC Studios has reached an agreement with Freddie that we believe supports his continued rehabilitation, return to work and future plans", a spokesperson for BBC Studios said. "BBC Studios has reached an agreement with Freddie that we believe supports his continued rehabilitation, return to work and future plans". 

BBC Studios is a commercial company, who does not use the BBC Licence Fee Income.

Any decisions on future episodes of Top Gear would be made "in due course in conjunction with BBC Content".

Representatives for Mr Flintoff have yet to comment on the matter. 

Before joining up as presenter of Top Gear alongside Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris, Flintoff also starred on Sky’s A League Of Their Own and won the first series of the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
