Kate Garraway returned to presenting Good Morning, less than a week after the funeral of her husband Derek Draper.

Today, Kate Garraway made her return to presenting Good Morning Britain, thanking viewers for their "incredible" love and support that she has received.

Following an emotional appearance on the programme on Monday, Kate Garraway spoke about how her children had been processing the loss of their father, before returning as host this morning.

On returning to host the show, Garraway said it was lovely but "odd", to be back at work.

"The make-up girls had me in tears this morning just by saying hello," Garraway said. "Thank you to all of you at home as well, I know I mentioned it on Monday, but you have been incredible".

Joking that he would give her a bit of "leeway", co host Ben Shephard said that, his co-presenter did her husband proud with an "extraordinary funeral".  "You really did Derek proud, it was an extraordinary thing", he said.

While she admitted that she felt "wobbly", Garraway added, "I definitely wanted to make it about Derek not about me. It was really lovely as well to feel so much love from everybody here".

Former political advisor and lobbyist Derek Draper, died in January, following a long battle with Covid-19, which saw him rushed to hospital in March 2020, where he spent the next 13 months. After he was discharged, Mr Draper suffered long, lasting damage to his organs, requiring constant care.

His funeral was held last Friday at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Primrose, north west London, the same venue where the couple married in September 2005.  They went on to have two children, Darcey and Billy.
