A brand-new festival, Fleadh na Bealtaine, is coming to Galway City over the May Bank Holiday weekend, from April 30th to May 4th, 2026.
The four-day event will celebrate Irish culture with traditional music, dance, theatre, food, storytelling, and family-friendly activities — many of them are free.
Inspired by the ancient Celtic festival of Bealtaine, it marks the beginning of summer with a mix of old traditions and modern entertainment across the city. Highlights include live trad music sessions, céilí and sean-nós dancing, street performances, workshops, and storytelling events.
The lucky winner will experience a real Galway getaway with a weekend stay in either The Snug Townhouse on Quay Street or Nox Hotel, Headford Road.
Savour a leisurely lunch in The Cellar Bar, a tempting gastrobar in Eyre Square. Enjoy fabulous cocktails in M.Fitzgeralds, located in Galway’s Latin Quarter. Dine at the multi award winning Brasserie on the Corner restaurant. Sip on drinks in Taylors Bar & Beer Garden, situated in Galway’s popular West End.
