The annual commemoration takes place today for Michael Collins who was shot dead at Béal na Bláth in August 1922.
Giving the oration this year is Health Minister Jennifer Carrol Mc Neil.
The Health minister has drawn from voices of the past, of Political leaders and Historians and voices from Collins own family as crowds gather at Crookstown in Co Cork this afternoon.
Each year, a commemoration is held at the site of his death, on the Sunday closest to 22nd August.
Jennifer Carrol McNeil spoke of Collins as a creator and a state builder whose vision has led to development of the state, stone by careful stone.
The minister also condemned the utterly illegal and genocidal actions of Russia and Israel and has said Ireland must remove the triple lock and take charge of our own affairs.
