The investigation began on Thursday when officers from the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit and the Cork County North East Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search of a business premises in Cobh. Gardaí later conducted a number of follow-up searches at a separate location in Cork city.
During the operation, officers recovered suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €484,000 and suspected cannabis worth approximately €108,000, bringing the total estimated value of the drugs seized to €592,000.
The man was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 before being formally charged.
He is due to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court at Anglesea Street at approximately 1.30pm on Saturday.
Gardaí said the suspected drugs will be sent for forensic analysis as investigations into the operation continue.
