One of Cork’s best-known city centre restaurants is preparing to serve its final customers after more than 25 years in business.
14A, located on French Church Street in the heart of the city, has confirmed it will close its doors later this month following the end of its lease.
Famous for its popular breakfasts and welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant has been a longstanding fixture of Cork’s dining scene, attracting locals and visitors alike over the past quarter of a century.
In a statement shared on social media, the owners thanked customers for their support over the years and reflected on the memories created at the restaurant since it first opened.
The restaurant's final day of trading will be Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Customers with outstanding vouchers have been assured that they will still be able to use them at Amicus, the restaurant's sister venue on Paul Street.

Announcing the closure, the owners wrote: "Dear Customers & Friends, after 25 truly wonderful years, the time has come to say goodbye."
"As our lease comes to an end, we close this chapter on French Church Street with full hearts and gratitude. Our final day will be Sunday, 14th June 2026."
"Thank you so much for your loyal support, friendship and memories shared with us over the years. It has been a privilege to welcome you through our doors, and we are grateful for every visit."
The statement also paid tribute to the restaurant’s staff, both past and present.
"To all the incredible staff, past and present, a very special thank you. We will be forever grateful for your hard work, dedication, and the many good times we have shared together at this amazing location in The Huguenot Quarter."
While the restaurant is closing its French Church Street premises, the owners said they look forward to welcoming customers at Amicus in the future.
The announcement comes amid a difficult period for parts of the hospitality sector and follows news that another well-known Cork restaurant will also be closing.
Earlier this week, Chestnut in Ballydehob, one of West Cork’s most acclaimed dining destinations, revealed that it will close later this year after eight years in operation.
The Michelin-starred restaurant, run by Chef Rob Krawczyk and Elaine Fleming, said it will complete one final summer season before the owners move on to what they described as their “next chapter”.
For many Cork diners, however, the immediate focus will be on saying farewell to 14A, a restaurant that has been part of the city’s food scene for more than two decades and leaves behind countless memories for customers and staff alike.
