Six people have been taken to Cork University Hospital following a two-car collision on the N73 outside Mallow last night.

One man, aged in his 30s, is in a serious condition after the crash, which happened at Ballysheehan at approximately 10.05pm on Sunday, November 1.

A second male driver, aged in his 40s, and four passengers were also taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the serious road traffic collision and have confirmed that the road remains closed.

Traffic travelling from Mitchelstown on the N73, including HGVs, is being diverted at Skennakilla Cross. A local road will bring motorists onto the N72 near Killavullen.

Drivers travelling from Mallow can continue along the N72 and take alternative routes where necessary, including via Fermoy.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have camera footage from the area is being asked to contact Gardaí.
