With concerts, matches, protests, demonstrations and a spell of decent weather, more than 300,000 people descended on Dublin last weekend.
Thousands more people were recorded as having come into the city centre to shop, socialise with friends in the good weather, or enjoy the city's parks and outdoor amenities.
An average of over 100,000 vehicles travelled on the M50 each day, while some 370,000 passengers travelled through Dublin Airport between Friday and Sunday.
An Garda Siochána says its high-visibility policing plan, which has been in place for sometime now, helped to ensure that those in the city as well as those attending each of the large number of public events, were all safe and the weekend went off without major incident.
The force also put in place traffic management plans to support the various public events to keep the traffic disruption to a minimum, and Gardaí say they're pleased that the vast majority of people utilised public transport services including Dublin Bus, LUAS and Irish Rail.
Speaking this morning, Assistant Commissioner for Dublin, Paul Cleary said, "Gardaí worked outside of their regular duties to help keep over 300,000 people safe as they attended public events over the weekend in Dublin.
"The past weekend’s co-ordinated activity shows more than ever that Dublin is a safe, vibrant city with lots to offer."
Assistant Commissioner Cleary added "each of our partner agencies and stakeholders play their part with us - from policing, to efficient public transport services, the strong business and hospitality community, the city council's street cleaning and well organised events for all ages."
Gardaí urge anyone who feels unsafe or needs assistance at any time to contact them, or to talk to members of the force on high-visibility patrols across the city.
As always, if someone finds themselves in an emergency or immediate danger, dial 999 or 112.
