Connemara National Park has been named Ireland’s most loved walk, topping a new national ranking of the country’s favourite trails.
The scenic route in Letterfrack, Co Galway, beat the Howth Cliff Loop in north Dublin and the world-famous Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare, according to research compiled by outdoor clothing brand Craghoppers. The list was created by analysing Google reviews as well as photos, videos and hashtags shared across social media platforms.
Spanning 2,000 hectares of mountains, bogs and native woodland, Connemara National Park has long been popular among walkers and nature lovers, but now officially holds the title of Ireland’s best-loved trail.
In second place, the Howth Cliff Loop offers an almost eight-kilometre walk with sweeping views of Howth lighthouse, nearby islands and the Irish Sea—just minutes from Dublin city. The Cliffs of Moher ranked third, praised for both its dramatic Atlantic scenery and its accessibility for visitors.
Overall, Galway dominated the top 10 list with three trails, including Connemara National Park, the Killary Harbour Trail and the tranquil Portumna Forest Park.
Commenting on the findings, Brian Fox, Managing Director of Craghoppers Ireland, said the results highlight the country’s remarkable natural variety. “These survey findings really show how lucky we are in Ireland to have such a diverse range of walking trails set among our wild, beautiful natural landscape,” he said. “People love walking in places like Connemara National Park because nature provides us with space to breathe, think, and enjoy the moment.”
